On Pro, your voice is transcribed on your own PC
Offline mode is a Pro feature and is not the default: you switch it on. With Offline on, no audio is sent to the cloud and nothing leaves your PC. The app shows it: a count of what was sent, and a log of every request.
The Free plan is a taste in the cloud: 3,000 words a month, processed and deleted, never stored and never used to train anything. For work that must stay with you, use Pro in Offline mode.
Why people in healthcare ask for this
Most dictation tools send your voice to a server in another country. For a letter to a colleague that may be fine. For anything about a person in your care, many practitioners and their data protection officers would rather the audio never left the room.
VoltType on Pro runs the speech recognition on your own Windows PC. You download the voice pack once (about 670 MB), switch to Offline, and dictate with no internet connection at all.

AI drafts, clearly marked
Summaries, to-do lists and letters from what you said. On Pro they are written on your PC. They are drafts written by AI: read and correct them before you use them.
Works with the software you already have
VoltType does not integrate with anything, and it does not need to. It types into any program that has a text field, the same way your keyboard does:
- your practice or records software, whichever one you use
- Word, Outlook, and web mail
- web forms and in-house programs
There is no plugin, no connector and no integration project. If you can type into it, you can talk into it.
Spoken commands
- "New line" and "new paragraph" for structure
- "Scratch that" removes the last thing you said
- "Make this formal", "make it shorter", "summarize" ask the AI writer for a draft. Check it before you keep it.
Data protection, in plain words
- We never store your audio or the text you dictate. Our servers hold your account, your usage counts and, only if you turn on Remember, the word list you teach it, in the EU (Frankfurt).
- Nothing you say is used to train AI. Not on any plan.
- You stay responsible for what you write. VoltType is a general dictation tool. It can mishear a word, and an AI draft can leave something out or get it wrong. Read everything before it goes into a record or a letter.
- You are the controller of your own notes. Check with your data protection officer how dictation fits your duties under the GDPR and your professional secrecy rules. We send our sub-processor list and data-processing annex on request.
- We hold no certifications and have had no external audit. What we offer instead is a check your own IT can run: verify it yourself.

Questions
Does it need the internet?
On Pro, no. After the one-time voice pack download, Offline mode works with no connection. The Free plan runs in the cloud and needs internet.
How well does it know specialist terms?
It is a general speech model, not a medical one, so rare drug names and abbreviations can come out wrong the first time. Correct them once and it remembers. We do not publish an accuracy figure for medical vocabulary because we have not measured one.
Can I use it where IT is strict?
Ask your IT team. Give them the verify page: a ten-minute check, with Windows' own tools, of what the app sends in Offline mode.
Can I change the hotkey?
Yes, in Settings, to any combination that does not clash with the programs you use.
